The overall goal of the program was to monitor and minimize the effects of industry and traffic pollution on the health of children, young people and pregnant women.

The project consisted of the following activities:

1. Obtaining the support of self-government, teachers and parents

2. Biomonitoring - testing lead levels children’s blood

3. Organizing ecological and health education on the environmental threats to children’s health; methods of prevention; and promotion of healthy living among the teachers, parents, and members of the community

4. Treating children with high blood lead levels in a Preventive Centre

5. Disseminating the results of the project through the media, conferences, scientific reports.
