Cost of Poverty

Name of the organization: Armenian Women for Health and Healthy Environment

Title of the project: Cost of Poverty

A documentary movie was produced entitled ’Cost of poverty’. The video aims to raise awareness about problems related to indoor air pollution and children’s health in Armenia. About 50% of the Armenian population regularly use biomass fuels for heating and cooking. Cooking and heating with solid fuels on open fires or traditional stoves results in high levels of indoor air pollution. This in turn can lead to various respiratory diseases and to nervous system damage. The documentary focuses on the situation in schools and in homes. A medical doctor explains the negative health effects of indoor air pollution on children’s health.
