Bicycle Training for Children in a Real Traffic Environment

Name of the organization: Austrian Mobility Research

Title of the project: Bicycle Training for Children in a Real Traffic Environment

Contacts: www.fgm.at, www.radfahrtraining.at

The project aimed to promote bicycle use as an every day, environmentally-friendly means of transport among children and their parents by providing training in a real traffic environment. Thus far, more than 10.000 school children have participated in the training sessions. School classes benefited from a one day training session, the main focus of which was: exposing children to a real traffic environment: teaching children how to pass cross roads and turn left at junctions; teaching them how to be safe but also self-confident (cycling in lane whilst remaining visible and not being afraid of occupying space on the road).
