Polish Environmental Partnership Foundation

Polish Environmental Partnership Foundation began its operations in 1997 and supports projects on sustainable development and effective environmental protection in Poland. It is a successor to a program called the Environmental Partnership for Central Europe. Currently, the Foundation operates as part of the Environmental Partnership for Central Europe (EPCE) Consortium, which supports grassroots environmental action in Central Europe. Sister Partnership foundations operate within the framework of the Consortium in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania.

The organisation advocates for healthy lifestyles, especially in urban areas and sustainable use of local resources. It promotes partnership across Poland for initiatives in local development and environmental sustainability. They support cooperative action involving local communities, small and medium size companies, local and national government agencies and universities. The foundation provides funding for the activities of the later and in the meantime coordinates several of their own programmes.

One of the organisation’s programmes on children’s environment and health is ECO-SCHOOLS. It focuses on educating teenagers and involving them in activities towards sustainable development. The next programme, mainly focused on nature conservation and preservation of cultural heritage, is called GREENWAYS. It aims at creating a network of greenways in Central and Eastern Europe to lead citizens, local governments, state organs and businesses to work together.
