Youth Workshop on Environment and Health: a dialogue with young people on current policies and future plans

In the run-up to the Intergovernmental Mid-Term Review for the Children’s Environment and Health Action Plan for Europe (CEHAPE) scheduled for June 2007, the WHO Regional Office for Europe and the European Commission are organizing a Youth Workshop on Environment and Health: a dialogue with young people on current policies and future plans. The workshop shall take place in Luxembourg on 23-25 March 2007.

The purpose of the workshop is to involve youth participation in decision making processes, especially related to both the CEHAPE and the EU Action Plan on Environment and Health 2004-2010. This workshop will focus on discussing the important issues in the CEHAPE and the EU AP, and will assist the youth discussions and concerns for the IMR.

The workshop is targeted at youth between the ages of 16 and 20 who are:

interested, knowledgeable and have experience in children and young people’s environment and health issues

skilful in communicating in English

familiar with and able to inform others of how young people participate in relevant decision making processes in their own countries

willing to participate, if necessary, in the further development of national plans and to attend other international meetings throughout the year
