Danish government launches chemical information campaign for mothers

In September 2006, the Danish government launched an information campaign on the potential hazards of chemical compounds in cosmetics, baby products and toys. The campaign is targeted at expectant and nursing mothers.

A nine-point set of guidelines includes suggestions that pregnant women and nursing mothers use cosmetics and skin creams as sparingly as possible, avoid spray cans and paints, and refrain from dyeing their hair.

A previous survey reported that three out of four women were unsure how to address such concerns.
