4th Annual Conference "Children’s health and the Environment", Pittsburg, 21 October

The 4th Annual Conference "Children’s Health and the Environment" will take place the October at the Hospital of Pittsburgh.

The conference, organized annually by the Mid-Atlantic Center for Children’s Health and the Environment, will adress clinically important issues in children’s health that are affected by the environment. Children of all ages, including those in the fetal stages of development, can be affected by environmental hazards.

Exposure to environmental toxins via air, water, food or soil can have a significant impact on the health of children. The meeting will focus on the buit environment, heavy metals exposure and neurocognitive issues, cancer and environmental exposures and newborn outcomes and environmental exposures. Participants will be provided with a choice of two presentations in each track.

After participating in this activity, participants should be able to:

- Recognize the clinical impact of environmental toxicants on children.
- Describe a variety of approaches to management and interventions regarding environmental health problems in children.
- Identify resources available to investigate and manage environmental health problems in children.
- Recognize the impact of particular settings and environments on the health of children.
