This EECH meeting will focus on scientific evidence and implementation of the Children’s Environment and Health Action Plan for Europe, Regional Priority Goal 2, "to prevent and substantially reduce the health consequences from accidents and injuries and pursue a decrease in morbidity from lack of adequate physical activity, by promoting safe, secure and supportive human settlements for all children".

The meeting will focus on Regional Priority Goal 2, by:

— Reviewing the most recent trends in relation to the burden of unintentional injuries involving children across the European Region and presenting examples of effective responses to adress them. Focus will be on the differences across the Region, particularly in the eastern part with representatives from these countries invited to share their experiences.

— Clarifying the importance of RPG 2 in strategically establishing the link between injuries, their broad environmental determinants, and the effects of physical activity on urban planning, transport and housing policies.

— Discussing the policy implications of RPG 2, with a focus on the far-reaching effects of transport policy developments and their broad social dimension, looking in particular at the implications for children.

— Examining the policy response by countries and organizations to achieve RPG 2.

Representatives of the ministries of health and the ministries of environment of the 52 countries of the WHO European Region, as well as relevant organisations, are invited to join the EEHC on this day.
