Germany: awareness raising and cooperation on environmental risks

"With its Environment and Health Action Programme (APUG), Germany has established a dynamic process of inter-ministerial cooperation in the field of environment and health. (...)

The main goals of the Environment and Health Action Programme are:
- to inform the population about links between environment and health as well as nutrition and health, and to support a health conscious and environmentally aware way of life
- to register, assess and communicate health risks from the environment with the aim of ensuring good protection (key areas include indoor air pollution, aspects of noise, radiation and chemicals)
- to initiate and support a process of good cooperation between actors in the field of environment and health (at federal level as well as at local level)."
